Relief
Printmaking
Lawrence uses wood and linoleum blocks in the relief
printmaking process. The image is placed onto a wood or linoleum block
and carved. Ink is rolled across the surface of the block and then paper
(usually mulberry paper) is then placed on the surface of the block and
the paper is burnished with the back of a spoon or barren and the impression
is pulled from the surface of the block.
Ink Drawings
Lawrence uses mostly Pigma Micron (archival ink)
for his drawings. Lawrence is known for his drawings of trees and a series of drawing and prints of the South False Creek area
of Vancouver, with a major focus on the Burrard and Granville Street bridges.
Lawrence has been commissioned to work on a variety
of drawings with emphasis on trees, boats and scenes of Vancouver. If
you are interested in discussing a commission, please contact Lawrence
Lowe.
